Commonwealth Future recently met with His Excellency, the High Commissioner of Eswatini, Christian M Nkambule, to explore opportunities for the future. Dr Zimar Sivardeen, Chairman, met with His Excellency on behalf of the Executive Committee to gain insights into the country with the parties agreeing to promote Optometry and correctable vision working with Eswatini’s Ministry of Health and academics.
A vibrant country in southern Africa, the Kingdom of Eswatini became a Commonwealth country in 1968 and recently changed its name from Swaziland to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence. Eswatini is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna including the critically endangered black Rhinoceros and a diverse population spread across both urban and rural settings.
At the meeting, His Excellency and Dr Sivardeen also discussed the country’s closeness to Her Majesty the Queen and the opportunities to support its future development by working with partners from across the Commonwealth on a wide range of activities. Commonwealth Future looks forward to engaging further with His Excellency and the country’s diplomatic staff to promote prosperity for all.
